Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received your message asking for a Committee on
Conference on the disagreeing votes on House bill No. 109,
and have concurred therein, and appointed on the part of the
House, Messrs. Gill, Brown and Koons.

Gentlemen of the Senate:

We respectfully inform your Honorable Body that we have
not concurred in the amendments made by your Honorable
Body to House bill 119, for the relief of Eli T. Whitney, and
would respectfully ask your Honorable Body to recede from
the same.

Mr. Stevens submitted the following message :

BY THE SENATE,

April 3rd, 1876.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message requesting the Senate to
recede from its amendments to House bill, to appropriate a
sum of money to pay the claim of Eli Wbitney.

Upon consideration, the Senate declines to recede from its
amendments, and respectfully request the appointment of a
Committee of Conference upon the disagreement between the
two Houses.

We have named on the part of the Senate, Messrs. Stevens,.
Gorman and Knight.

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
