than three months for each and every offence, upon indict-
ment and conviction therefor in a Court of competent juris-
diction, or to a penalty not exceeding two hundred dollars,
or both, in the discretion of the Court.
H. If any person shall prevent, or hinder, or attempt, or
conspire with any other person or persons to prevent or hin-
der any voter from exercising his right of suffrage in a pri-
mary election in the City of Baltimore, by threat, intimida-
tion, violence, or any other unlawful means, such person so
offending, and every person who shall be guilty of willfully
voting or offering to vote illegally, or causing, or procuring
any other person to vote illegally in any ward of the said
city, shall, on conviction thereof, be adjudged guilty of a mis-
demeanor, and be sentenced to not less than six months nor
more than two years imprisonment in the city jail, and it
shall be deemed illegal, within the meaning of this Article,
to vote or offer to vote in more than one ward or more than
once in any ward at any such primary election, and it shall
be deemed illegal voting within the meaning of this Article
to vote, or offer to vote, more than one ballot at any such
election.
I. The Board of Police Commissioners of Baltimore city
shall at all primary elections require the Police Force of said
city to maintain and preserve the public peace, and observe,
aid and assist in carrying out the provisions of this Article,
to the end that quiet and fair primary elections may be con-
ducted in said city; and it shall be unlawful for any party or
organization to hold any primary election in said city, except
in pursuance of the foregoing provisions, and that the expen-
ses of any primary election as aforesaid, shall be defrayed by
the party or organization holding such election.
