to do so by the School Board of any county; and be it farther
ordered, that said Committee further inquire into the expe-
diency of so amending the School Law of this State as to
levy upon the State the entire amount necessary for the sup-
port of the Public Schools, thereby making our school system
emphatically a State Institution.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.
On motion by Mr. Phelps,
Leave was granted to Senators Phelps, Cooper and Gorman,
to introduce a bill to provide that all judgments obtained be-
fore any Justice of the Peace in this State, when a copy of which
shall be entered upon the docket of the County Court where
such judgment is obtained, shall bind upon land in the
same manner, and to the same extent as judgments obtained
in the Circuit Courts.
On motion by Mr. Stevens,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to change the name of the
trustees of the Roman Catholic Asylum for widows in the
City of Baltimore, incorporated by chapter 199 of the Acts of
the General Assembly of Maryland of 1854, to that of "the
Little Sisters of the Poor."
Also,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to extend and add a supple-
ment to an Act to incorporate the Merchants' and Miners'
Transportation Company, passed at January Session 1852,
chapter 153, and to extend and add to supplement to an Act
entitled "A supplement to an Act to incorporate the Mer-
chants' and Miners' Transportation Company, passed at Jan-
uary Session 1852, chapter 153, passed at the January Ses-
sion 1863, chapter 130."
Also,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled an Act amendatory of Sec-
tion 190, of Article 4, of the Code of Public General Laws,
in relation to cruelty to animals.
On motion by Mr. Steiner,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act en-
titled an Act to incorporate the Orphan House and Episco-
pal Free S«hool Society of All-Saints' Church in Frederick
Town, passed at December Session 1887, chapter 147, and to
its supplement passed at January Session 1854, chapter 104.
