On motion by Mr. Getty,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled an Act to extend the juris-
diction of Justices of the Peace for Garrett county to cases of
Assault and Battery.

On motion by Mr. Gorman,

Leave was granted to the. Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to amend Article 29 of the Public
General Laws, title "Courts," sub-title "Court of Appeals,"
by adding to said title and sub-title an additional Section
giving to the Senate and House of Delegates respectively in
the cases therein provided for, the right to require the opinion
of the Court of Appeals in certain cases.

Mr. Dennis, from the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings, reported favorably

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Sections 2, 5 and 7 of
Article 13 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled
"Bastardy and Fornication."

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Getty, from Select Committee, reported favorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to change the dividing line
between the 3d and 5th Election districts in Garrett county.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Aydelotte, from Select Committee, reported favorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to give and declare the sanction
and consent of the General Assembly of Maryland to the be-
quest of $1,000 to the Presbyterian Church at Newtown,
Worcester county, Md., and also to the bequest of $1,000 to
the Methodist Church at Jacobsport, Coshocton county, Ohio,
and also to the bequest of $ 1,006 to the Linton Presbyterian
Church of Coshocton county, Ohio, all contained in the codi-
cil to the last will and testament of John Gunby, deceased.

Which was read the first time.

Senate Joint Resolutions in relation to the subscription by
the Treasurer of the State to the Southern Maryland Railroad
Company.

Being upon their third reading,
On motion of Mr. Bannon,

Were ordered to lie over and made the order of the day for
Tuesday, the 25th, at 1 o'clock.
