Mr. Dennis submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
"Provided, nevertheless, That the said sum of money shall
be, and it is hereby, appropriated and directed to be paid as
aforesaid, upon the express condition, that before said pay-
ment, the said Maryland Hospital and all the lands, together
with all the rights, privileges and appurtenances thereto be-
longing, shall be conveyed to the State of Maryland, free,
clear and discharged of all incumbrance, by a good and suf-
ficient deed, in fee, to be duly acknowledged and recorded,
and approved by the Attorney-General of the State."
Which was adopted.
Also, by Mr. Dennis, the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
"And provided also, That belore the said payment shall
be made, the Attorney-General of the State shall certify to
the Comptroller of the State, that there is no lien or incum-
brance upon the said Maryland Hospital, by reason of any
mortgage, judgment or otherwise."
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading, by yeas and nays
