THURSDAY, January 20th, 1876.

Senate met at 12 M.

Prayer by Rev. Mr. Amos,

Present at the roll call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Aydelotte, Ban non, Brewer, Cooper,
Dennis, Freeman, Ford, Getty, Gorman, Hepbron, Humph-
reys, Joyce, Knight, Lee, Lawrence, Lloyd, McCulloh,
Mudd, Newcomer, Phelps, Stevens, Steiner, Suit,Walsh—25.

Proceedings of yesterday read and approved.

Mr. Brewer presented the memorial of O. W. Beall, pray-
ing that a pension be granted him,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Steiner presented the memorial of the Maryland State
Grange, in regard to the class of wandering mendicants,
called "Tramps," settiug forth the annoyance and expense
they are to private citizens, and the grievous burden they im-
pose upon the Public Treasury, and asking the passage of a
general law of some kind that may be effective in the sup-
pression of this great nuisance.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Cooper presented the memorial of Catharine Peregoy,
praying that a pension be granted her,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Also by Mr. Cooper,

Memorial of Rebecca C. Rhodes, praying to be restored to
the pension roll.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Mr. Knight presented the memorial of the Maryland State
Grange, praying the passage of an Act for the better protec-
tion of sheep from dogs in the State of Maryland.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.
