AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

"Provided, Nothing in this Act shall be construed to per-
mit or authorize the Company hereby incorporated to acquire
by condemnation, or use in any way the lands owned or con-
trolled by the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, with-
ont the consent of said Company is first had and obtained."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time.

Also, favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to amend the Act of 1872, ch.
152, entitled an Act to amend the Act of March Session,
1865, chap. 147, by substituting certain Sections tor the sec-
ond and third Sections of said Act, and providing for the re-
duction of the number of Directors, and for the holding of
the meetings of said Company in the City of Philadelphia,

Bring upon its second reading,
On motion by Mr. Suit,

Was recommitted to the Committee on Corporations.

Mr. Cooper, from Committee on Corporations, reported
favorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Sec, 119, of chap. 471,
of the Acts of 1868, relating to "Corporations," and to re-
enact the same with amendments.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Dennis, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported unfavorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the sale of lands in
Allegany county, which have reverted to the heirs of Thomas
Beall, of Samuel, of said county.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Stevens, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported favorably the following bills:

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal chap. 59, of the Aets
of 1874, entitled an Act to add an additional Section to Art.
40, of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Fines
and Forfeitures," to come in alter Section 3, and to re-enact
the same with amendments.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Sec. 2, of Art. 37, of
the Code of Public General Laws, title "Evidence," sub-
title "Competency of Witnesses," as enacted by chap. 385, of
the Acts of the General Assembly of 1874, and to re-enact
the same with amendments.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Sec. 23, of Art. 75, of
the Code of Public General Laws, title "Pleadings, Practice-
and Process," and to re-enact the same with amendments
