Senate bill entitled an Act to extend the jurisdiction of
Justices of the Peace, to eases of petty larceny.
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Dennis, from the Select Committee, reported favora-

bly.

Senate bill entitled an Act to appoint an additional Justice

of the Peace for the State of Maryland, in and for Somerset
county, and in the 8th Election District thereof.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Phelps, from the Select Committee, reported favora-
bly,

House bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 9, of Article
28, of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to the pub-
lication of county expenses, so far as the same relates to
Dorchester county, and to re-enact, the same with amend-
ments.

With the following proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Section 2, line 3, strike out "five hundred dollars" and in-
sert "six hundred dollars."

Which was adopted.

Said bill as amended was theu read the second time.

Mr. Ford, from the Select Committee, reported favorably,

House bill entitled an act to repeal Section 2, chapter 313,
of the Acts of 1872, entitled an Act to protect the owners of
land on the waters of Queen Anne's and Kent counties, and
to re-enact the same with amendments.

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Knight, from the Select Committee, reported favorably.

House bill entitled an Act to repeal certain Sections of
Article 8, of the Code of Public Local Laws relating to
Chesapeake city, and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Which was read the second time.

On motion by Mr. Cooper, the rules were suspended, so
as to take up,

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact with
amendments, Section 2, of chapter 417, of the Acts of 1858,
authorizing the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, to es-
tablish an inspection and measurement of Gas and Gas Me-
tres in said city.

Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays as
follows:
