WEDNESDAY, March 8th, 1876.

Senate met at 11 A. M.

Prayer by Rev. Father Schwartz.

Present at Roll call, the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Aydelotte, Bannon, Brewer, Cooper,
Duke, Dennis, Freeman, Ford, Getty, German, Hepbron,
Humphreys, Joyce, Knight, Lee, Lawrence, Lloyd, McCul-
loh, Mudd, Newcomer, Phelps, Stevens, Steiner, Suit,
Walsh—26.

Proceedings of yesterday read and approved.

Mr. Newcomer presented the memorial of 50 citizens of
the 7th District of Washington county, praying the passage
of an Act authorizing the Governor to appoint an additional
Magistrate for said district.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Newcomer, Free-
man and Duke.

Mr. Phelps presented the memorial of 103 citizens of Dor-
chester county, remonstrating against the provisions of a bill
for the extension of the Dorchester and Delaware Railroad,
to some point upon the Chesapeake Bay in said county of
Dorchester.

Also,

Of 53 citizens of Dorchester county to the same effect.

Which were read and referred to Messrs, Phelps, Ayde-
lotte and Cooper.

Mr. Suit presented the memorial of J. R. Young, E. M.
Hack and '21 others, citizens of Prince George's county,
against the passage of the Act changing the name of Glen-
ville to Wigwam.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
cial Proceedings.

Mr. Freeman presented the memorial of 77 citizens of Bal-
timore county, praying for a law restricting the sale of in-
toxicating liquors in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.

Mr. Phelps presented the memorial of 375 citizens of Dor-
chester county, praying that no change be made in the time
now established by law in relation to those who catch oys-
ters with tongs, and those who catch oysters with scoops or
dredges.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
