Mr. Dennis presented the memorial of sundry citizens of
Somerset connty, praying that grain carried to the City of
Baltimore for sale, shall be weighed by a State weigher.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Duke presented the memorial of Mrs. Mary F. Wells
and other ladies of Calvert county, praying the passage of a
Local Option Law.

Also,

A similar memorial of Robert Ward and others, citizens
of said county.

Which were read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. McCulloh presented the memorial of 3,500 citizens of
Allegany county, in favor of the passage of the Act provid-
ing for the reduction of tolls upon the Cumberland and
Pennsylvania Railroad.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Cor-
porations.

On motion by Mr. Knight, it was

Ordered, That the Senator for Worcester, have leave of
absence for a few days, on and after Friday next.

On motion by Mr. Brewer,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 107, of an Act
passed at the January Session, 1874, Chapter 483, entitled
"Revenue and Taxes." and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.

On motion of Mr. Dennis,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Dennis, Aydelotte and Hum-
phreys to introduce a bill for the appointment of an addi-
tional Justice of the Peace in Lawson's District, No. 8, of
Somerset county.

Mr. Suit presented the following

JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

WHEREAS, Owing to the abolition of the franking privilege,
a large quantity of books and useful reading matter belong-
ing to the people of Maryland has accumulated at the Federal
Capital; And whereas, our citizens wishing to avail them-
selves of the valuable information contained in the different
reports, &c.

Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Delegates, That
our Members of Congress be, and they are hereby requested
to have all books, Patent Office and Agricultural Reports,
