FRIDAY, March 3rd, 1876.

Senate met at 11 A. M.

Prayer by the Rev. Father Schwartz;

Present at roll call the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Aydelotte, Ban non, Brewer, Cooper,
Duke, Dennis, Freeman, Ford, Getty, German, Hepbron,
Humphreys, Joyce, Knight, Lee, Lawrence, Lloyd, McCul-
loh, Mudd, Newcomer, Phelps, Stevens, Steiner, Suit,
Walsh--26.

Proceedings of yesterday read and approved.

Mr. Lloyd presented the memorial of certain citizens of
Talbot county, praying the passage of an Act requiring all
grain carried to Baltimore, for pale, to be weighed by the
State Weighers.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Phelps presented the memorial of sundry citizens of
Dorchester county, praying the passage of an Act to abolish
the office of County Treasurer.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Phelps, Cooper
and Aydelotte.

Mr. Dennis presented the memorial of John Murphy &
Co., praying the purchase by the State of 500 copies of
Hinkley's Testamentary Law, &c.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.
On motion by Mr. Steiner, it was

Ordered, That leave of absence be granted to the Presi-
dent of the Senate until Tuesday, March 7th.
On motion by Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce the following bills:

A bill entitled an Act to provide for the appointment of
State Inspectors of Fluids and Oils used for illuminating
purposes in this State, and for a Board of Direction, upon
the inspection of illuminating oils.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal chapter 325, of the Acts of
1872, relating to Corporations, and the liability of stock-
holders, and to re-enact the same with amendments.

The President announced that in the message from the
House, received yesterday, one of the Senate bills was im-
