THURSDAY, March 2nd, 1876.
Senate met at 11 A. M.

Prayer by Rev. Mr. Ide.

Present at roll call the following Senators:

Messrs. President, Aydelotte, Bannon, Brewer, Cooper,
Duke, Dennis, Freeman, Ford, Getty, Gorman, Hepbron,
Humphreys, Joyce, Knight, Lee, Lawrence, Lloyd, McCul-
loh, Mudd, Newcomer, Phelps, Stevens, Steiner, Suit,
Walsh—26.

Proceedings of yesterday read and approved.

The Chair announced the following correction to the Jour-
nal of yesterday:

That the motion of Mr. Bannon in yesterday's Journal,
and the vote on said motion by which the Senate bill enti-
tled an Act to repeal Sub-Sec, 3, of Sec. 37, and Sec. 93, of
chap. 471, of the Acts of 1868, entitled an Act to repeal
Art. 26, of the Code of Public General Laws, and to enact
a substitute therefor, and to repeal Sec 22, of Art. 16, Secs.
99 to 103, of the same Article, and Sections 33 to 43, of Art.
88, of the Code of Public General Laws, and to re-enact the
same with amendments.

Which was passed by yeas and nays.

Was reconsidered,

Is null and void by reason of the fact that the Senator from
Anne Arundel voted in the negative, and under the rules is
not competent to move a reconsideration

Said bill was then endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays,''
and sent to the House of Delegates.

Mr. Ford presented the memorial of James Dodd, John
Dodd and 20 others, citizens of Queen Anne's county, pray-
ing the passage of an Act requiring all grain to be weighed
by a State Weigher.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Lloyd presented the following memorials:

Memorial of 20 citizens of Talbot county, opposed to any
increased rate of interest being legalized by the State.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Memorial of certain citizens of Talbot county, praying the
enactment of a law to require all assault and battery cases
and petty larceny, shall be tried before Justices of the Peace.
