WEDNESDAY, February 23rd, 1876.

Senate met at 12 A. M.

Prayer by Rev. Mr. Canter.

Present at roll-call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Aydelotte, Bannon, Brewer, Cooper,
Duke, Dennis, Freeman, Ford, Getty, Gorman, Hepbron,
Humphreys, Joyce, Knight, Lee, Lawrence, Lloyd, Mc-
Culloh, Mudd, Newcomer, Phelps, Stevens, Steiner, Suit
Walsh—26.

Proceedings of Friday's session read and approved.

Mr. Steiner presented the memorial of J. D. Lizar, Abra-
ham Toms of W, John A. Wilson, and 50 others, citizens oi
Frederick county, setting forth the advantages of the law
allowing a compensation for killing lynxs, minks, skunks,
hawks and owls, and praying the General Assembly not to
repeal the said law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

Mr. Phelps presented the memorial of the Vienna Grange
of Dorchester county, praying an appropriation of $3,333.33,
or so much thereof as may be necessary to rebuild the State's
interest in the Vienna bridge in Dorchester county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. McCulloh presented the memorial of Wm. Moody, and
others, citizens of District No. 4, cf Garrett county, praying
that said District be included in the proposed new county to
be formed from the adjacent parts of Allegany and Garrett
counties.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
cial Proceedings.

Mr. Aydelotte presented the memorial of Dr. John P. R.
Gilliss, George C. Townsend, Wm. Dale and George M. Up-
shur, members oi the Board of County School Commissioners
for Worcester county, praying the passage of an Act appro-
priating a sum of money out of the Free School Fund of said
county towards building school houses in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Mr. Humphreys presented the memorial of Joshua P. Ben-
nett for an Act allowing him to place a fishing weir on the
