Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time.

The hour of 1 o'clock having arrived, the President an-
nounced the order of the day to be the

Senate bill, entitled an Act to provide for the proper rep-
resentation of the State of Maryland at the celebration of
the one hundredth Anniversary of American Independence.

Pending the consideration of the bill,

Mr. Gorman, (by unanimous consent.) obtained leave to
make a favorable report from the Select Committee on

Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize, empower and direct
the County Commissioners of Howard county, to adjust and
pay Thomas J. White for damages occasioned by opening a
public road through his lands.

Which was read the first time.

Also,

Mr. Aydelotte, (by unanimous consent,) obtained leave to
to make a favorable report from Select Committee on Boundary
Line between the States of Virginia and Maryland, on

Senate bill entitled an Act to provide for the payment of
the counsel employed to represent the State in the arbitra-
tion between Maryland and Virginia, upon the boundary line
between the said States, find to appropriate a sum of money
therefor, and far the other expenses of said arbitration.

Which was real the first time,

And,
On motion by Mr. Aydelotte,

Was referred to the Committee on Finance

The Senate then resumed the consideration of the order of
the day.

Mr. Humphreys moved that said bill he referred to the
Committee on Finance,

M Fields, (Mr, Lloyd in the Chair,) moved to adjourn.
Which was decided in the affirmative by yeas and nays, as
follows:
