202 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 9,

Said bill, as amended, was thea read the second time and
ordered to be engrossed fer a third reading.

Mr. Stevens, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported favorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to amend Art. 37, of the Code
of Public General Laws, title "Evidence," by adding there-
to certain additional Sections under the sub-title "Senate
and House of Delegates," giving power to certain officers
and persons in the Senate and House of Delegates of this
State, to administer oaths to witnesses, and to compel the
giving of testimony, and production of evidence in certain
cases.

Which was read the first time.

Also, favorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 9, of Article
14, of the Code of Public General Laws, and to re-enact the
same with amendments.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. McCulloh, from the Committee on Corporations, re-
ported favorably,

House bill entitled a supplement to the Acts incorporating
the Western Maryland Railroad Company, and conferring
new powers on said Company.

Which was read the second time.

Also, favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to extend the charter of the
Grand Division of the State of Maryland, of the Order of
Sons of Temperance, passed at December Session, 1845,
Chapter 159.

Which was read the second time.

Also, favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to extend the charter of the New
York and Baltimere Transportation Line.

Which was read the second time.

Also, favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to repeal an Act passed at the
Session of 1870, chapter 148, entitled an Act to add addi-
tional Sections to the Act of 1865, chapter 36, entitled an
Act to incorporate the German Fire Insurance Company, of
Baltimore, and also to repeal Sections 2, 3 and 6, of the said
Act of 1865, chapter 36, entitled "an Act to incorporate the
German Fire Insurance Company, of Baltimore," and to re-
enact said Section 3, with amendments.
