WEDNESDAY, February 2d, 1876.

Senate met at 12 M.

Prayer by Rev. Father Freiiag,

Present at roll-call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Aydelotte, Bannon, Brewer, Duke,
Dennis, Freeman, Ford, Getty, Gorman, Hepbron, Hum-
phreys, Knight, Lee, Lawrence, Lloyd, McCulloh, Mudd,
Newcomer, Phelps, Stevens, Steiner, Suit, Walsh—24.

Proceedings of yesterday read and approved.

The President submitted certain evidence in the contested
election case of Wilson vs. Duke.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Elec-
tions.

Mr. Lloyd presented the memorial of Samuel Hambleton
and 21 others, citizens of Talbot county, praying the passage
of an Act prohibiting the running at large of all kinds of
stock.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Also,

A similar memorial of Thos. Hughlett and others of said
county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee oa Agri-
culture.

Mr. Dennis submitted the following :

Ordered, That the Committee on the Chesapeake Bay and
its Tributaries, be directed to inquire and report to the Sen-
ate as soon as practicable, into the expediency of repealing
chapter 181, of the Acts of 1874, entitled an Act to repeal
Artitle 71, of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Oys-
ters," as amended and re-enacted by chapter 364, of the Acts
of 1870, and also chapter 167, of the Acts of 1872, and to
report a bill upon the same subject, re-enacting the said act,
with the following alterations :

1st. To strike out all after the words "Wade's Point," in
the tenth line of Section 2, in the Act of 1874, chapter 181,
down to the word "State" inclusive, in the top line of
page 284.

2d. To reduce the charge for license, as stated in Section
4, from three dollars per ton to one dollar per ton.
