130 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 31,

Said bill, as amended, was then read the seco'nd time.

Mr, Stevens, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
(by unanimous consent,) reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to release to Mortimer C. Grif-
fith, Philemon G. Griffith, Mary R. Dorsey, and Emeline C.
Orme, children of Philemon Griffith, deceased, all the rights
and interest of the State in and to a bequest of $2 000 made
by the will of said deceased to his wife, Ann Griffith, who
died before her husband without heirs.

Which was read the second time.

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1874, chap.
436, entitled an Act lor the better protection of Partridges in
Queen Anne's county, and also to add additional Sections to
the Code,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to amend the charter of the
Merchants' and Miners' Transportation Company,
Being on its second reading,
Was laid over in order to be printed.

Senate bill entitled an Act to extend the jurisdiction of
Justices of the Peace for Garrett county in cases of assault
and battery,

Being upon its third reading,

Mr. Brewer moved to insert Montgomery county.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Duke moved to insert Calvert county.

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time, and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act granting additional powers to
the Potomac Fire Insurance Company of Baltimore,

Being upon its second reading,

Was ordered to lie over in order to be printed.

Senate bill entitled an Act authorizing the Mayor and Citv
Council of Baltimore to provide for the Inspection of Coal Oil
in the City of Baltimore, and for the appointment of Inspec-
tors for that purpose,

Being upon is second reading,
On motion by Mr. Steve is,

Was recommitted to the Select Committee.
