Mr. Getty presented the memorial of Jonas Beachey and
others, of the Amish Menonite persuasion, praying the pass-
age of an Act to exempt them from serving on juries.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
cial Proceedings,

On motion by Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled an Act declaratory of the
Act of the General Assembly of Maryland, passed at Janu-
ary Session, 1856, chapter 109, entitled an Act to amend an
Act entitled an Act to incorporate the Fremont Savings In-
stitution of Baltimore, by allowing said institution the privi-
lege embraced under the Act entitled an Act to continue the
corporate existence of the several banking institutions therein
mentioned, passed at January Session, 1853, chapter 441.
On motion by Mr. Steiner,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to intro-
duce a bill, placing on the pension list the name of Susan-
nah Green, the widow of a soldier of the war of 1812.
On motion by Mr. Getty,

Leave was granted to Messrs, Getty, Ford and Law-
rence, a Select Committee, to introduce a bill for the protec-
tion of wild turkeys and other game, in Garrett county.

Mr. Cooper, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to regulate the sale of fire-wood
in the City of Baltimore, for the better protection o I the pro-
duce, dealer and consumer,

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Suit, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,
Senate bill entitled an Act to regulate the closing of roads
in Prince George's county,

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Getty, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to regulate the fees of the
County Surveyor for Garrett county,

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Stevens, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 941, of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "City of Baltimore," with
the following amendments.

Amend title by inserting after the word "Baltimore" the
words "sub-title water."

And after the word "Baltimore," in the first section, in-
sert "sub-title water."

Which were adopted.
