cil of Baltimore, and James M, Anderson, Collector, against
the Grand Lodge of Maryland, of the Independent Order of
Odd Fellows, is relation to the opening of Lexington street
at the present term of said Court.

By Mr. Mudd,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance, (hereaf-
ter to be appointed,)

To introduce a bill to lessen the expenses, and correct the
abuses of the Tobacco Warehouse system.

By Mr. Walsh,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Walsh, Lee and McCullough,
to introduce a bill for the relief of Rachel Wilson.

By Mr. Walsh,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Walsh, Lee and McCullough,
to introduce a bill to amend the Act of 1874, Chapter 439.

"Mr. Freeman presented the memorial of James C. Fen-
hagen protesting against the occupancy of a seat in the Sen-
ate by J. H. Cooper, and claiming that the election held on
November 2d last, in Baltimore, was illegal, fraudulent and
void."

Also,

"The memorial of Edward Adams protesting against the
occupancy of a seat in the Senate by Eugene T. Joyce, and
declaring that the election held on November the 2d last, in
Baltimore, was illegal, fraudulent and void."

Mr. Dennis raised the point of order that the memorials
in their present shape could not be received.

The President sustained the point of order raised by Mr.
Dennis.

Mr. Steiner appealed from the decision of the Chair.

The President having reconsidered his decision, said memo-
rials were then referred to the Committee on Elections, (here-
after to be appointed.)

Messrs. Walsh, Phelps and Suit from the Joint Committee,
appointed to wait- upon his Excellency the Governor, and
inform him that the two Houses of the General Assembly
were organized and ready to receive any communication he
might be pleased to make, reported that the Committee had
performed that duty, and that they had been requested by
his Excellency to inform the Senate that he would commu-
nicate a message to the two Houses in a few minutes.
