THURSDAY, March 16th, 1876.
The House met, at 10 A. M., and was opened with prayer
by the Rer, Mr. Amos.
Present at the call of the roll the following members:
Messrs. (Gill, Speaker pro tem.,) Dunbar. Mattingly,
Boyer, Usilton, Hodges, Robinson, Rullman, Turner, Bird,
Lancaster, Hooper, Baldwin, Whitelock, Curtis, Smith, of
B. co., Given, Fitzjarrell, Dodson, Lankford, Gunby, Ford,
Lambdin, Smith, of Dor., Waters, of Dor., Briscoe, Consta-
ble, Ward, Snowden, Gwynn, Cockey, Neal, Purijell, Onley,
Riggs, Hinks, Naill, Koons, Rutledgc, Boyle, Vandiver,
Culbreth, Goldsborough, Rusk, Berkemeier, Lewis, McWil-
liams, Hoblitzell, Stewart, McAleese, Loane, Chaisty, Harig,
Albaugh, Sanders, Fenton, Scott, Farrow, Ranger, Jones,
Griffith, Rawlings, Atkinson, Sprigg, Brooke, Brown, Rine-
hart, Lamotte, Waters, of Car'l., Donaldson, Clark, Da-
shiell, Gordy, Barnard, Browning—75.
Mr. Lankford presented the petition of Thos. K. Whealton,
and 560 other citizens of Somerset county, for a law protect-
ing crabs.
Which was read and referred to the Somerset delegation.
Mr. Rinehart presented the petition from Thomas F. Shep-
herd, F. A. Norris, and 58 other citizens of Carroll county,
for the passage of an Act for preventing cattle and stock
from running at large.
Which was read and referred to the Carroll delegation.
Mr. Rutledge presented the petition of Dr. W. W. Virdin
and other citizens of Harford county, praying that the County
Commissioners of said county be authorized to levy the sum
of $100 for support of Mary Ann Hopkins, an indigent and
demented woman.
Which was read and referred to the Harford delegation.
Mr. Boyer presented the petition of sundry citizens of Kent
county against the passage of any law prohibiting fishing by
drift seine in the waters of Chester river, above Chestertown.
Which was read and referred to the Kent and Queen
Anne's delegations.
Mr. Brown presented the petition of Symington Bros. &
Co., Turner, Hopkins & Co., Geo. 8, Dickey, and 45 other
steam users, against the passage of a law to license engineers
in Baltimore.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Inspec-
tions.
