purpose.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Whitelock, of a Select Committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled an Act to authorize the Commissioners of Bal-
timore county, to sell and dispose of certain stock of the City
of Baltimore, now belonging to the said county,
Which was read a first time.
On motion of Mr. Lankford,
The bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to aid
the High School, established by Crisfield District, in Somer-
set county,
Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading, and
On motion of Mr. Lankford,
Made the order of the day for Wednesday next, 15th inst,,
at 12 o'clock, M.
The Secretary of the Senate returned the bill entitled an
Act to repeal and re-enact with amendments, an Act of the
General Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January
Session, in the year 1868, chapter 334, approved March 30th,
1868, entitled an Act supplementary and amendatory of
an Act, passed at the present Session of the General As-
sembly of Maryland, entitled an Act to amend the cf arter
of the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad Company,
passed at the January Session, 1849, chapter 469, and to fur-
ther repeal and amend said last named Act.
Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays."
The bill entitled an Act to appropriate $7,000, or so much
thereof as may be necessary for the purchasing of a suitable
lot, and the erection thereon of scales, adapted to the weigh-
ing of hay, straw and live stock,
Was reported favorably from Committee on Ways and
Means, with the following proposed amendments:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Amend by inserting after the word "cash," in line 7, Sec-
tion 3, insert the following: "Provided, however, that the
said Commissioners shall have the power to withdraw the
said property if in their judgment the highest bid therefor is
below the real value of the property."
Amend by inserting "Section —. And be it enacted, That
the sum of money hereby appropriated, $7,000, shall cover
the purchase of lot, erection of building and scales, and all
the appurtenances -belonging, necessary to put the said East-
ern Hay Scales in effective operation."
Which were severally read and adopted.
