Mr. Loane submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Amend by adding, "and that the Committee on Pub-
lic Buildings be instructed and authorized to have constructed
a fire and burglar proof vault, to be under the control of the
Speaker and Chief Clerk."
Which was rejected.
The order submitted by Mr. Donaldson was then adopted,
Mr. Donaldson submitted the following order :
WHEREAS, Great complaint being made by the members of
this House of matters on and in their desks being disturbed,
And whereas, The lobby of this House is used when the
House is not in session, for lounging purposes ; therefore,
Be it ordered, That the Janitor of the Hall of the House
of Delegates, see that after all business is through in the
evenings, the Hall shall be vacated by every one except those
by the rule of the House entitled to admission to the floor
of this House, and properly secured, and that all indecent,
drunken and improper persons be at all time precluded from
lounging and loafing in any portion of the Hall.
Which was adopted.
The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the
day, the House proceeded to the consideration of
The bill entitled an Act making further appropriations for
the support of the Government for the year 1876.
Said bill being upon a second reading,
On motion of Mr. Gill,
The further consideration thereof was postponed, and said
bill was made the order of the day for Tuesday next, the 7th
inst.
The Speaker laid before the House the following commu-
nication from Hon. Levin Wool ford, Comptroller of the
Treasury, in response to an older of the House, together with
accompanying statement.
