So the amendment to exempt Washington county,
Was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Rusk,
The further consideration of the bill, together with pend-
ing amendments,
Was postponed, and said bill referred to the Committee
on the Judiciary.
Mr. Donaldson submitted the following order :
WHEREAS, A House bill which had passed both Houses
and been returned to this House for enrollment, has been ab-
stracted from the desk of the Clerk of this House,
And whereas, It is said that in former Sessions the ab-
straction of bills at their different stages, has been of only
too common occurrence,
And whereas, It is of the greatest importance to end the
possibility of such an evil,
Ordered, That the Clerk of this House is hereby au-
thorized and directed to procure under the supervision of the
Chairman of the Committee on Claims, for the custody of
bills before this House, a fire and burglar proof safe, the
amount to be paid for the same to be approved by the Com-
mittee on claims; the Chairman of the House Committee on
Claims is hereby authorized to draw his check upon the
Comptroller for the amount necessary.
And be it further ordered, That no one but the Chief
Clerk of this House and the Speaker shall have access to the
interior of such safe, unless by order under the hand of the
Speaker; the safe to be here by Monday.
