Mr, Gordy submitted the following order :
Ordered, That it is currently reported that Mr. T. F. Mc~
Cardell, a witness in attendance on the Select Committee on
Canal Investigation, was, during such attendance, assaulted.
We therefore ask your Honorable Body to concur in in-
structions to that Committee to examine into the circum-
stances, and report whether said assault amounts to a breach
of the privileges of this General Assembly

Ordered, That Mr. Cockey be excused from attendance on
the House to-day, having been called to Baltimore on im-
portant business.

Leave was granted to the Committee on Claims, to intro-
duce a bill entitled an Act to refund to Jane F. Holland, the
sum of $37.89 cents, excess of taxes paid into the State
