elling expenses to and from Annapolis.
Which was adopted.
The hour having arived for taking up the order of the day,
the House proceeded to the consideration of the amendment
submitted by Mr. Baldwin, on Monday, the 10th inst., to
the proposition submitted by Mr. Gill, that the petition of
J. Morrison Harris be referred to the Committee on Elections.
On motion of Mr, Donaldson, (the rules being suspended,)
the further consideration thereof was postponed, and the
House proceeded to the consideration of the next order of the
day, being
The following order submitted by Mr. Whitelock, on
Thursday last:
WHEREAS, It appears by the Comptroller's Report for the
year 1874, that the sum of $191,152.67 was expended un-
der the head of "Legislature."
Ordered, That officer present to this House at an early
day, a statement of the expenditures from, and including
the session of the General Assembly of 1864, showing in
detail the per diem paid the members of the Senate and
House of Delegates respectively, the amount paid the officers
of each House, the amount paid for stationery, and the
amount paid for other purposes, whereby this House may be
enabled to judge understandingly what items of expenditure
may be curtailed, without detriment to the public service.
The question recurring upon the adoption of the order,
Mr. Given submitted the following amendment:
And that he be instructed to present to this House, at the
same time the number of employees of the last House of
Delegates, and the compensation paid to each.
Which was adopted:
The question then recurring upon the adoption of the order
as amended.
It was adopted.
The House then renewed the consideration of the first or-
der of the day.
The question recurring upon the following order submitted
by Mr. Baldwin on Monday last, as aa amendment to the
motion submitted by Mr. Gill, to refer the petition of J.
Morrison Harris to the Committee on Elections.
