Mr. Gordy presented the petitions of Jas. H Mitchell and
82 others, Winder Hasting and 165 others, Lambert W.
Parsons and 62 others, Leonard Timmons and 65 others,
George Parsons and 25 others of Wicomico county, praying
against the repeal of the present fence law of said county.
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Gordy, Dashiell
and Purnell.
Mr. Hooper presented the petition of Eli Kelly, William
Brown and 25 other citizens of Baltimore county, asking for
achange in the present system or collecting taxes in said
county, also to tax all species of property.
Which was read and referred to the Baltimore county del-
egation.
Mr. Constable presented the petitions of Sylvester J. Whit-
lock and 36 others, Lytleton Green and 65 others, G. P.
Whitaker and 32 others, and Joseph W. Coudon and 78
other citizens of Cecil county, asking for a joint resolution to
be passed by the General Assembly of Maryland, instructing
our delegation in Congress to vote and exert their influence
to have the appropriation, asked by the War Department, to
remove obstacles from the mouth of Susquehanna River.
Which was read and referred to the Cecil delegation.
Mr. Dashiell presented the petition of George H. Insley,
and 30 other citizens of Tyaskin District, in regard to Oys-
ters.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
Mr. Gill presented the petition of the members of he Bal-
timore Bur, for change in the terms of Court in Baltimore.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.
On motion of Mr. Dashiell, it was
Ordered, John T. Parsons have leave of absence for a few
days on urgent private business.
On motion of Mr. Gordy, it was
Ordered, That Mr Dashiell and Mr. Purnell have leave
of absence until Tuesday next.
On motion of Mr. Canby, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Griffith be excused from attendance to-
day on account of important business.
On motion of Mr. Bird, it was
Ordered, That the leave of absence of Mr. Turner be ex-
tended on account of sickness.
On motion of Mr. Given, it was
Ordered, That Messrs. Smith and Curtis, of Baltimore
county, be excused for their absence on Monday last, being
unavoidably detained.
