A bill entitled an Act to require the Clerk of the Circuit
Court for Frederick county, to transcribe two equity dockets
of the Circuit Court for said county.
Which was read a first time and referred to the Frederick
delegation.
Also,
A bill entitled an Act to protect fish and wild fowl in cer-
tain of the waters of Kent county.
Which was read a first time and referred to Messrs. Boyer,
Usilton and Ward.
Also,
A bill entitled an Act to permit the shooting of wild fowl
from sink boxes in the waters of Talbot county.
Which was read a first time and referred to Messrs. Dod-
son, Fitzjarrell and Culbreth.
Mr. Stewart, submitted the following order :
By virtue of Section 2, of Article 5, of the Constitution of
the State, either branch of the General Assembly has author-
ity to require the Attorney General to give his opinion in
writing on any legal matter depending before them, and as
this body has before it the subject of the oppression of the
people of Baltimore by the unconscionable monopolies, the
Gas Companies, therefore,
Ordered, By the House of Delegates, That the Attorney
General be, and he hereby is required to inform this House
what legislation exists, if any, securing to the people of Bal-
timore the fair measuring of the gas supplied to them by the
Gas Companies, and also, what additional legislation is ne-
cessary or proper to attain this object.
Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Clark, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Donaldson be excused from serving on
the Committee appointed to inquire into the administration
of the Gas Companies of Baltimore city, under the order
offered by Mr. Hoblitzell, and adopted on February 1st, 1876.
On motion of Mr. Whitelock, it was
Ordered, That the Treasurer of Maryland report to this
House the name of all banks in which, the funds of the State
are deposited, and the amount of paid up capital of each.
The amount of money in each bank standing to the credit of
the State on 31st January, 1876. A copy of all agreements
which have been entered into, and the security received "for
the safe keeping and forthcoming" of such deposits, in con-
formity with Article 6, Section 3, of the Constitution of this
State.
