vert County," sub-title ''Taxes," providing for the ap-
pointment of a Treasurer, and a more economical collection
of taxes in Calvert county.
On motion of Mr. Hodges,
Leave was granted to the Select Committee on Fisheries to
introduce a bill for the protection of Terrapins.
On motion of Mr. Griffith,
Leave was granted to the Montgomery county delegation to
introduce a bill to repeal section 5, of chapter 381, of the Act
of 1872, of Public Local Laws, relating to Hawks and Owls in
Montgomery county, and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.
On motion of Mr. Mattingly,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Mattingly, Dunbar and
Lancaster to introduce a bill for an additional Justice of the
Peace for the Fourth Election District of St. Mary's county.
On motion of Mr. Sprigg,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations
to introduce a bill to authorize the Cumberland Caststeel
Manufacturing Company, to issue coupon bonds and secure
the payment thereof.
On motion of Mr. Constable,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill to add an additional section to Article 75, of
the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Pleading, Prac-
tice and Process," to regulate the argument of causes injury
trials.
Ou motion of Mr. Constable,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill adding an additional section to Article 69, of
the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Officers," to en-
able parties injured by tortious acts of Sheriffs and Consta-
bles to have a remedy against their official bonds.
Also,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill to repeal and re-enact with amendments
Article 89, of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Slan-
der," to enable married women to maintain actions for words
spoken maliciously touching their character or reputation for
chastity and tending to the injury thereof.
Also,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill adding an additional section to Article 65, of
the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Negligence," to
