Mr. Ford submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Insert as an additional Section,
"Section 4. Be it enacted, That before granting such li-
cense, the Comptroller shall receive for it from the applicant
at the rate of two dollars per ton for every ton the boat may
measure, the license shall be exhibited whenever called for
by any officer of the State of Maryland."
Which was rejected.
Mr. Ford submitted the following amendments :
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Amend and re-enact Sec. 35, so as to read as follows
"Sec 35. And be it enacted, That the salary of the com-
manding officer in charge of the steamer shall be fifteen hun-
dred dollars per annum, and he shall have power to appoint
one officer at one thousand dollars per annum, one engineer
at one thousand dollars per annum, and one officer at eig
hundred dollars per annum ; three seamen at thirty dollars
per month, two seamen at $25 per month, one fireman at
thirty-five dollars per month, one fireman at $30 per month,
one cook at twenty-five dollars per month ; and each deputy
commander nhall receive a salary of nine hundred dollars per
annum, and shall have power to appoint one officer at a salary
of six hundred dollars per annum, and three seamen at a sal-
ary of forty dollars per mouth, each to be selected from the
district in which they are to serve.
"Section 36. And be it enacted, That Section 36, of chap.
181, of the Acts of 1874, is repealed."
Which were rejected.
The bill as amended was then read a second time and or-
dered to be engrossed for a third reading.
The bill entitled an Act to add a new Section to Art. 26 of
the Code of Public General Laws, relating to corporations, so
as to provide a more summary remedy against coun panics in-
corporated by this State, with authority to transport persons
or property for hire,
Was read a third time and passed by yeas and nays as fol-
lows :
