NEGATIVE—None.
Said resolutions were then returned to the Senate,
Mr. Neal, Chairman of the Committee on Elections, re-
poited favorably, with proposed amendment,
Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 65 of Article
35 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Elections,"
and to re-enact the same with amendment.
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out all after the word "order" in last line, and in-
sert "Of the Senate or House of Delegates in whichever the
seat is contested.
Which was adopted, and the bill, as amended, read a
second time.
Mr. Waters, of Carroll, Chairman of a Select Committee,
reported favorably, with proposed amendments,
Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Com-
missioners of Carroll county, to repair and to build an addi-
tion to the Court House in said county, and to borrow money
for that purpose, to issue bonds for the payment of the same,
and to levy taxes on the assessable property in said county,
to redeem said bonds and to pay the interest thereon.
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Section 1, strike out all after the word "sums" in line 15,
to the word "to" in line 16, and insert "not less than one
hundred dollars, nor more than four hundred each."
Section 1, line 3, after the word "contract," insert "with
the lowest responsible bidder or bidders."
Section 5, strike out all after the words "and be it en-
acted," and add the following: "that the Judges of the Cir-
cuit Court for Carroll county, at the next regular term of
said Court, shall require the Grand Jury of said county to
make a careful examination of the Court House, and if they
report to the Court that such improvement is essential for the
preservation of the public records, and will promote the pub-
lic convenience, the said report shall be entered among the
proceedings of said Court."
