On motion of Mr. Neal,
The House proceeded to the consideration of the following
order submitted by him on Friday morning last :
Ordered, That the Chairman of the Committee on Claims
be authorized to pay such expenses growing out of the elec-
tion contests this session before the General Assembly of
Maryland, as may be proper; the several claims arising there-
from to be sworn to by the claimants severally, and to be
audited and recommended by the Chairman of the Commit-
tee on Elections.
The question recurring upon the adoption of the order,
Mr. Naill submitted the following amendment :
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Add after the word "elections," at the end of order, "and
nothing herein contained shall be construed to authorize the
payment of counsel on either side."

ment,
On motion of Mr, Koons,
The further consideration of the order, with pending
amendment, was postponed until to-morrow, 28th inst.
Mr. Donaldson moved a suspension of the rules to enable
him to submit a leave to introduce a bill.
