So the order submitted by Mr. Gill, was rejected.
Mr. Baldwin submitted the following order,
Ordered, That the bills for expenses of Traveling Com-
mittees shall be read, and approved by the House before they
are paid.
Which was read.
The question recurring upon the adoption of the order.
Mr Whitelock submitted the following amendment:
Ordered, That the same mileage as is allowed the mem-
bers of this House, be paid the members of all Traveling
Committees which rnay be appointed, and no other allowance
except the per diem be paid.

The question recurring upon the adoption of the amend-
ment :
On motion of Mr. Koons, the further consideration there-
of was postponed, and the order, together with proposed
amendment, be referred to the Committee on Ways and
Means, with instructions to report upon the same within five
days.
Mr. Given submitted the following order :
Ordered, That the Committee on Corporations be directed
to enquire into the rates of toll for freight and passengers
charged by the railroads passing through the State of Mary-
land or terminating therein, maximum ireights, draw-backs
and all other devices, for the purpose of seeing what discrim-
ination, if any, is made, against the State of Maryland, and
to report by bill or otherwise.
