Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (193n
Edition), title "Cecil County", sub-title "County Commis-
sioners", said new sections to be known as Sections 141A and
141B, to follow immediately after Section 141 of said Article,
and to read as follows:
141A. The County Commissioners of Cecil County are here-
by directed to levy, on the assessable property in Cecil County,
annually, the sum of Five Thousand Six Hundred Dollars
($5, 600. 00), for the purpose of assisting in the maintenance of
the seven volunteer fire companies in Cecil County, namely,
Cecilton Fire Company, Chesapeake City Fire Company, Sing-
erly Fire Company of Elkton, North East Fire Company, Com-
munity Fire Company of Perryville, Water Witch Fire Com-
pany at Port Deposit and the Rising Sun Fire Company. The
first levy shall be made in the month of June, 1937, and the
said sum of money to be paid by the County Commissioners of
Cecil County to the said seven volunteer fire companies pro-
rata, and the said County Commissioners are hereby directed
to require each of the said seven volunteer fire companies to
file, annually, a fair statement of the value of their respective
fire fighting apparatus, which said statement shall include
the character of the same, date of purchase and estimated
depreciation. Each of the said seven volunteer fire com-
panies shall also file with the County Commissioners a detailed
and itemized statement of all of the fires to which their re-
spective companies have rendered service during the previous
year, the estimated value of the property in which any fire
shall occur during the year and estimated loss to the same by
reason of any fire.
141B. The County Commissioners shall pay out of the taxes
collected in Cecil County, in each and every year, to each of
the said seven volunteer fire companies the sum of Eight
Hundred Dollars (§800. 00), at stated periods during the cur-
rent year and each of the said seven volunteer companies are
hereby required to file at the end of the current year with the
County Commissioners a full and fair statement of how the
said sums of money so paid to each of them shall have been
expended, provided', however, that the said County Commis-
sioners shall make no payment to any fire company organized
after June 1, 1937, unless such company shall apply to said
County Commissioners and receive the approval of said Com-
missioners for its organization.
SEC. 2. And T)e it farther enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1937.
