tain property of members of Volunteer Fire Departments
from municipal taxation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
20 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Somerset County", to be under sub-title "Fire
Departments", said new section to be known as Section 197A,
to follow immediately after Section 197 of said Article, and
to read as follows:

197A. Each bona fide active member of any Volunteer Fire
Department in Somerset County shall be exempt from taxa-
tion for municipal purposes in the town where such fire de-
partment is located to the extent of One Thousand Dollars
($1, 000. 00).

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1937.

CHAPTER 447.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 4 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Balti-
more City", sub-title "Police Examiners", said new section
to be known as Section 745S, and to follow immediately
after Section 745R of said Article, to increase the compensa-
tion of the machinists of the Baltimore City Police Depart-
ment.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Police Examiners",
said new section to be known as Section 745S, to follow imme-
diately after Section 745R of said Article, and to read as
follows:

745S. Each machinist, exclusive of the Chief Machinist,
now employed in the Police Department of the City of Balti-
more shall receive an increase in his weekly wage from Thirty-
two Dollars and Fifty Cents ($32. 50) per week to Forty Dol-
lars ($40. 00) per week; the chief machinist employed in the
Police Department of the City of Baltimore shall receive an
