provisions of the motor vehicle laws applicable to the size and
weight of Motor Vehicles, and to arrest all violators of any
of the provisions of law in reference to State Highways and
the use of said Highways by Motor Vehicles as aforesaid or
violators of the regulations and order of the State Roads Com-
mission in relation thereto. Every such employee or servant
shall, when exercising any such authority hereunder, wear and
display a metallic shield or badge indicating that he is an em-
ployee or servant of the State Roads Commission of Maryland;
provided, however, that no contractor, his employee or servant
shall be permitted under this section to make any arrests.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1937.

CHAPTER 404.

AN ACT to add a new section to the Charter and Public Local
Laws of Baltimore City (1927 Edition), title "Records", to
be known as Section 803A, and to follow immediately after
Section 803, requiring the Clerk of the Superior Court of
Baltimore City to prepare and maintain for the whole of the
existing corporate limits of Baltimore City the plan or sys-
tem of indexing heretofore authorized by Chapter 289 of
the Acts of 1886, codified as Sections 802 to 805, inclusive,
of the Charter and Public Local Laws of Baltimore City
(1927 Edition), which plan or system of indexing was ap-
proved by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City on or about
July 1, 1886, so that all deeds, conveyances and other papers
hereafter required by law to be recorded among the land
records of Baltimore City, shall be indexed upon the plan
or system aforesaid.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to the Char-
ter and Public Local Laws of Baltimore City (1927 Edition),
title "Records", to be known as Section 803A and to follow
immediately after Section 803 thereof, and to read as follows:

803A. It shall be the duty of the Clerk of the Superior
Court of Baltimore City to prepare and maintain for the whole
of the existing corporate limits of Baltimore City the plan or
system of indexing heretofore authorized by Chapter 289 of
