General and Public Local Laws in so far as inconsistent, and
providing for a referendum vote thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted 'by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That one new section be and it is hereby added to Article
2 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Anne Arundel County", sub-title "Annapolis", said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 60A, to follow immediately after
Section 60 of said Article, and to read as follows:

60A. Notwithstanding any provision of any Public General
or Public Local Law, it shall be lawful to give or hold dances
and to show or exhibit motion pictures in the City of Annapolis
in Anne Arundel County on Sundays after the hour of 1 o'clock
P. M., with or without charge or admission fee, provided, how-
ever, that such exhibitions shall be subject to all provisions of
law relating to licensing and censorship applicable to motion
picture exhibitions on week days, but no local tax shall be im-
posed upon any such dance or exhibition at a higher rate
than that applicable on weekdays. The work or employment
of any operator, ticket-seller or other employee or attendant
in connection with any such dance or exhibition shall not be
unlawful because performed on Sunday.

Any dance or exhibition on Sunday except as hereby au-
thorized shall be subject to the provisions and penalties of
Sections 483 and 485 of Article 27 of the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of
laws, whether Public General or Public Local Laws, inconsist-
ent with the provisions of this Act, and especially Sections
483 and 485 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1924 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title
"Sabbath-Breaking", are hereby repealed with respect to any
dance or exhibition authorized by Section 60A as enacted by
Section 1 hereof to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That Sections 1 and 2 of
this Act shall not become effective until they shall have been
submitted, for adoption or rejection, to the qualified voters of
the City of Annapolis at the City Election for Mayor, Coun-
selor and Aldermen next after the passage of this Act. There
shall be printed on the ballots to be used at said election the
title of this Act and underneath said title on separate lines, a
square box to the right of and opposite the words "For Motion
Pictures and Dances on Sunday", and a corresponding square
or box to the right of and opposite the words "Against Motion
Pictures and Dances on Sunday", so that the voters shall be
