483 and 485 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1924 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title
"Sabbath Breaking", are hereby repealed with respect to the
exhibition authorized by Sections 507A and 507B as enacted
by Section 1 hereof to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That Sections 1 and 2 of
this Act shall not become effective until they shall have been
submitted, for adoption or rejection, to the qualified voters
of the Town of Oakland at the City Election to be held on
Monday, March 8, 1937. There shall be printed on the ballots
to be used at said election the title of this Act and underneath
said title on separate lines, a square box to the right of and
opposite the words "For Motion Pictures on Sunday", and a
corresponding square or box to the right of and opposite the
words "Against Motion Pictures on Sunday", so that the
voters shall be able to designate by a cross mark in the proper
square or box his or her decision for or against said question.
If a majority of the votes cast on said question shall be "For
Motion Pictures on Sunday", then Sections 1 and 2 of this
Act shall become effective on March 15, 1937, unless such
election be contested, in which event they shall take effect one
week after the final determination of such contest, but if a
majority of the votes cast thereon shall be "Against Motion
Pictures on Sunday", then this Act shall be null and void and
of no effect whatsoever.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of
its passage.

AN ACT to declare Samuel Herbert Ross, generally known as
John C. Ross, to be the adopted son of John G. Jeffers and
Martha C. Jeffers, his wife.
