SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That two new sections be and they are hereby added to
Article 12 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Garrett County", sub-title "Sunday Observance'',
said new sections to be known as Sections 507A and 507B, to
follow immediately after Section 507 of said Article, and to
read as follows:
507A. Notwithstanding any provision of any Public Gen-
eral or Public Local Law, it shall be lawful to show or exhibit
motion pictures in the Town of Oakland in Garrett County on
Sundays between the hours of 2:30 o'clock P. M. and 6 o'clock
P. M. and after the hour of 9 o'clock P. M., and at no other
time during such tday, with or without a charge or admission
fee, provided, however, that such exhibitions shall be subject
to all provisions of law relating to licensing and censorship
applicable to motion picture exhibitions on week days. The
work or employment of any operator, ticket-seller or other
employee or attendant in connection with such exhibition
shall not be unlawful because performed on Sunday.
Any such exhibition on Sunday except as hereby authorized
shall be subject to the provisions and penalties of Sections
483 and 485 of Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws.
507B. Upon every person, firm or corporation exhibiting
motion pictures pursuant to the preceding section for a direct
or indirect admission fee or charge, there is hereby levied and
imposed a tax at the rate of five (5c) cents for each person
admitted to any such exhibition. Said tax shall be paid by
said exhibitor not later than the Wednesday following such
exhibition, to the City Clerk of Oakland, who shall pay all
such taxes into a special account which shall be divided and
disbursed as follows: Twenty-five per cent (25%) to the sup-
port and maintenance of the Oakland Free Public Library;
twenty-five per cent (25%) to the support and maintenance
of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department and fifty per cent
(50%) to the Garrett County representative or agent of the
Maryland Children's Aid Society to be used for the aid of indi-
gent children in Garrett County.
Any person, firm or corporation failing to pay said tax as
aforesaid shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon convic-
tion therefor shall be subject to a fine of not more than Five
Hundred Dollars ($500.) or imprisonment for not more than
sixty (60) days, or both, in the discretion of the Court.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts
of laws, whether Public General or Public Local Laws, incon-
sistent with the provisions of this Act, and especially Sections
