of the Peace of persons arrested in said County may be made
either to the Superintendent of Police or to the Sheriff of
said County in the discretion of the said Justice of the Peace
making such commitment.
SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the Sergeants of the
Prince George's County Police shall receive a salary of Nine-
teen Hundred ($1900. 00) Dollars per annum each, payable in
equal monthly installments and no other fees or compensation
whatever and the other members of the Police Force, except
probationary officers, shall receive a salary of Fifteen Hundred
($1500. 00) Dollars per annum each, payable in equal monthly
installments and no other fees or compensation whatever, and
the probationary officers shall receive a salary of One Hundred
($100. 00) Dollars per month and no other fees or compensa-
tion whatever, except that the Police Commissioners are au-
thorized to pay the actual expenses for the maintenance and
upkeep of each automobile used by the Sergeants and mem-
bers of the Police Force and the sum of Sixty ($60. 00) Dollars
per annum for uniforms for each of said Sergeants and mem-
bers of the Police Force. The Desk Clerk or Desk Clerks here-
in authorized shall be paid a salary of One Thousand Dollars
per annum each. Members of the existing Police Force who
may be appointed to the force herein created shall serve the
regular probationary period hereinbefore provided for but
during said period shall receive the regular salaries herein
provided for the positions to which they may be appointed.
SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That the members of the
Prince George's County Police Force appointed as aforesaid
shall each give bond to the State of Maryland in the penalty
of Five Hundred ($500. 00) Dollars conditioned for the faith-
ful performance of their duties, said bond to be approved by
the County Commissioners and to be recorded in the office of
the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Prince George's County.
Upon the filing of his said bond each officer shall take an
oath before any person duly qualified to administer the same
that he will well and faithfully perform the duties imposed in
him by law. Each Sergeant, officer and probationary officer
immediately upon filing his bond and taking the oath above
prescribed shall report to the Superintendent of Police and
thereafter shall be at all times under his supervision and or-
ders. Each officer while 011 duty, unless otherwise ordered by
the Superintendent of Police, shall wear such uniform and
equipment as may be prescribed by the Police Commissioners.
It shall be the duty of the members of the Police Force so ap-
pointed to serve and execute any and all writs, warrants, sub-
poenas and other papers issued to them by the Justices of the
