868A. That beginning with the election to be held on the
first Monday in May, 1937, and continuing thereafter the
Mayor of said town of Riverdale shall be elected to serve for two
years instead of one year, as provided in Section 5 of Chapter
171 of the Acts of 1920.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts
of laws inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed to the ex-
tent of such inconsistencies.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is de-
clared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety and having
been passed upon a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths
(3/5ths) of all the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly the same shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

CHAPTER 292.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 943
of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Prince George's County", sub-title "State's Attorney",
as the same was amended by Chapter 459 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland of 1935 increasing the salary
of the State's Attorney of Prince George's County, and
providing for a Law Assistant to the State's Attorney for
said County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the -General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 943 of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County", sub-title
"State's Attorney", as the same was amended by Chapter 459
of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1935, be and the same
is hereby repealed and re-enacted to read as follows:

943. The State's Attorney of Prince George's County shall
receive a salary of three thousand dollars ($3, 000. 00) to be
annually levied and paid by the County Commissioners of said
County. He shall appoint a Law Assistant to the said State's
Attorney at an annual salary of one thousand two hundred
dollars ($1, 200. 00) to be levied and paid by the County Com-
missioners of said County, which said Law Assistant, who shall
be a member of the Bar, shall perform such work in said
