SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the committee ap-
pointed as aforesaid shall be known as the Indexing Committee
of Anne Arundel County and shall be authorized to purchase
all books needed, to contract for the making of said indexes, to
verify in conjunction with the Clerk of said Court, the
accuracy of said indexes, when made; and in their judgment
and discretion, to do all things they may deem necessary and
proper in the premises.

SEC. 4. And T)e it farther enacted, That the total cost of the-
necessary books and the making and verification of said in-
dexes, (no compensation shall be allowed or paid the com-
mittee or any member thereof) shall not exceed the sum of
Fifteen Thousand Dollars.

SEC. 5. And, be it further enacted, That the excess fees of
said Clerk's office including whatever excess amount may be
on hand upon the taking effect of this Act, shall be devoted to
the payment of said indexing, verification, books, supplies, etc.,
until the same is fully paid.

SEC. 6. And, be it further enacted, That this Act is an
emergency law and necessary for the preservation of the public
health and safety, and being passed upon the yea and nay vote
supported by three-fifths of all the members elected to each of
the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 260.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 781
of Article 11, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
(1930 Edition), title "Frederick County", sub-title "Thur-
mont", relating to the levying of taxes and the publication of
a detailed statement of the financial condition of the town,
and also the extension of the taxable limits of said town.

(Vetoed. )

CHAPTER 261.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 368 to 379, inclusive, of Article 15
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Kent County", sub-title "Sassafras", repealing
the Charter of the Town of Sassafras.
