installation of workable and efficient indexes to chattel
mortgages, bills of sale, etc., and conditional contracts of
sale, recorded in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court
for Anne Arundel County.
WHEREAS, The Equity cases filed in the Circuit Court for
Anne Arundel County from the year 1852 up to and including
the present time have never been placed in a general index
but appear only in their original dockets, some of which have
become very much worn, soiled and damaged by constant use;
and
WHEREAS, It is necessary to take immediate steps to provide
said office with a modern and workable general index to the
Equity cases; and
WHEREAS, The general indexes to the Land Records in the
office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel
County, prior to the year 1909, are in an unsatisfactory con-
dition, being badly soiled and damaged from use, whereby
much inconvenience is caused, and mistakes are likely to
occur; and
WHEREAS, It is necessary to provide for re-indexing said
Land Records; and
WHEREAS, It is necessary because of the thousands of con-
ditional contracts of sale, chattel mortgages, etc., filed annually
in the office of the Clerk of the said Court, to provide proper
and workable indexes; and
WHEREAS, It is the recommendation of the Bar Association
of Anne Arundel County that said Land, Equity and Chattel
indexing be done.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County shall
appoint a committee of three competent persons, members of
the Bar of said Court to select satisfactory systems for the
general index to all Equity cases, for the index to land
Records prior to the year 1909 and for indexes to chattel
mortgages, bills of sale, etc., and conditional contracts of sale
in the office of the Clerk of the said Court. The indexes to
chattel mortgages, bills of sale, etc., and conditional contracts
of sale shall be used by the said Clerk, commencing from the
day they are turned over to him, or as soon after as practicable.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That said Court shall
have full power to fill vacancies on said committee, whenever
and however they may occur.
