mobiles, or motorcycles purchased under this Act stall be and
remain the property of Anne Arundel County, and shall be re-
turned by the members of the police department to whom the
said equipment may be issued, upon separation, for any cause,
from said department, and the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County shall provide for the maintenance and repair
of said motor vehicles and equipment and for the operation of
said motor vehicles and equipment including gasoline, oil,
tires, batteries, and accessories for the same.

406E. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
are hereby authorized to retire any member of the Anne Arun-
del County Police Department who shall after the date hereof
become permanently disabled while in the active performance
of Police Department duty, or who has performed faithful
service in the Department for a period of not less than twenty
consecutive years and has reached the age of sixty-five (65)
years, and place the member so retired upon a pension roll and
pay him one-half his regular monthly salary. Provided, how-
ever, that no member of the Police Department shall be retired
before reaching the age of sixty-five (65) years until he shall
have been examined by the Board of Police Examiners of Anne
Arundel County and their findings as to disability assigned as
a reason for retirement shall have been certified to said County
Commissioners of Anne Arundel County; and provided that
the full time, full pay, uniformed police officers continued in
service under the provisions of this Act shall be credited with
the amount of time which they shall have served as such offi-
cers to the same extent as though they had served such period
in said Department after the passage of this Act.

406F. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
are hereby directed and authorized to levy each year a sum
sufficient for the payment of all members of the Anne Arundel
County Police Department and for the payment of the retire-
ment allowance or pension to all police officers retired under
the provisions of this sub-title, and for the purchase of motor
vehicles and for the operation, maintenance and repair of the
same as provided in this sub-title, together with such further
sum or sums as may be necessary to carry out the purpose and
intent of this Act.

406G. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
are hereby authorized to appoint such number of "Special
Officers without Pay" as they may deem necessary for the
proper protection of Waterfront Communities and Develop-
ments, such appointments to be effective from May 1st to Oc-
tober 1st of each year and the jurisdiction of each of said
"Special Officers without Pay" shall be confined to such Com-
