1360 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
United States Bureau of Fisheries of the Department of Com-
merce be requested to investigate certain Maryland waters to
determine the most suitable site for a shad hatchery; and be
it further

Resolved, That the Bureau of Fisheries be asked to establish
a shad hatchery at the point selected in order to increase
the supply of this important fishery in the Chesapeake Bay;
and be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State of Maryland be and
he is hereby requested to transmit under the Great Seal of
this State a copy of the aforegoing Resolution to the United
States Bureau of Fisheries.

NO. 11.

Joint Resolution expressing appreciation to the President and
Congress of the United States.

WHEREAS, during the past four years, the President of the
United States, through his unparalleled leadership and guid-
ance, has carried the country through one of the greatest
economic depressions in the history of the country; and

WHEREAS, the President and Congress of the United States
have made available funds not only for the relief and care of
the needy and unemployed, but have also made provision for
the aged and for the dependent and neglected children; and

WHEREAS, the President and Congress have, for the purpose
of giving employment, granted funds to the several States,
Counties, municipalities and other sub-divisions of the States
for the construction of Public Works and have, in addition,
loaned funds to banks, railroads and other corporations, which
have enabled them to continue operations in the interest of
the people generally; and

WHEREAS, as the result of the initiative, incomparable lead-
ership and guidance of the President of the United States,
confidence has been restored and the industrial, commercial,
agricultural and financial conditions have been greatly im-
proved; therefore be it
