1358 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

WHEREAS, he was the father of the United States Cavalry,
which was organized in Baltimore City and the State of Mary-
land by order of the first Congress of the United States and
its commander, General George Washington, President of
the United States; and

WHEREAS, from the early days of our country until the pres-
ent time, the Polish people have played an important part in
the development of the country and have always been loyal to
its institutions; and

WHEREAS, it would be fitting that some recognition be given
to the services rendered by General Pulaski; and

WHEREAS, there is now pending in the Congress of the United
States, a resolution providing that October 11th be known as
"Brigadier-General Casimir Pulaski Memorial Day"; there-
fore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Postmaster General of the United States be and he is hereby
requested to issue a commemorative stamp in recognition of
"Brigadier-General Casimir Pulaski Memorial Day"; and be
it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby
directed to send, under the Great Seal of the State of Mary-
land, a copy of this resolution to the President of the United
States and to the Postmaster General of the United States.

NO. 9.

A Joint Resolution requesting the Congress of the United
States to make available funds for the Chesapeake Bay
Authority.

WHEREAS, Chapter 330 of the Acts of 1935 creates the Chesa-
peake Bay Authority for the construction of a bridge across
the Chesapeake Bay; and

WHEREAS, State funds are not available for the construc-
tion of this bridge; and

WHEREAS, it is very important that the bridge be con-
structed for the convenience of the public generally; and
