NO. 3.
A Joint Resolution, requesting the United States Biological
Survey not to close or restrict the present open season as to
wild fowl in Maryland.
WHEREAS, restricting the wild waterfowl season to thirty
days prohibiting the use of grain for food, reduction of bag
limits, and other Federal restrictions, have worked a very
serious handicap on a large number of persons who were
formerly employed during the open season for the taking of
wild waterfowl; and
WHEREAS, with the thousands of birds which appeared on
Maryland waters during the Fall and Winter of 1936-1937, it
does not seem necessary that the United States Biological Sur-
vey should recommend regulations so drastic as those which
were in effect during the past hunting season; and
WHEREAS, if a longer open season were provided, even
though persons were only permitted to hunt three days per
week, those persons who have formerly been employed, and
who have very little means, if any, would be benefited by
assuring them of a livelihood during each season; therefore,
be it
Resolved ly the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
United States Biological Survey be and it is hereby requested
not to close or restrict the open season to a continuation of
thirty days in succession, but to provide regulations for hunt-
ing wild waterfowl three days per week during a ten-week
