CHAPTER 544.

AN ACT to amend the Charter of the Town of Riverdale, in
Prince George's County, by adding a new section to Article
XVII of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, to be
known as Section 865A of said Article, and to follow im-
mediately after Section 865 of said Article. Said new sec-
tion to make it unlawful to sell "alcoholic beverages", other
than wine and beer as the same are defined in this Act, "on
sale", as the same is defined in this Act, within the corporate
limits of the Town of Riverdale; to prohibit the approval of
an application for and the issuance of a license for the sale
of "alcoholic beverages", other than, wine and beer as the
same are defined in this Act, "on sale" as the same is de-
fined in this Act, within the corporate limits of the Town of
Riverdale; to provide penalties for the violation thereof,
provided this section shall not take effect until it has been
submitted to the qualified voters of said municipality and
approved by a majority of the persons voting thereon. The
referendum is to be printed on the ballots and voted upon
at the general election to be held on the first Monday in
May, 1937.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted % the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the charter of the Town of Riverdale, in Prince
George's County, be and the same is hereby amended, and a
new section be and the same is hereby added to Article XVII
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, said section
to be known as Section 865A of said Article, and to follow im-
mediately after Section 865 of said Article, the said amend-
ment and new section hereby added to read as follows:

865A. It shall not be lawful for any person or persons, or
body corporate to sell directly or indirectly at any place
within the corporate limits of the Mayor and Common Council
of Riverdale or to give away at his, her or their place of
business within the said corporate limits of said municipality
any "Alcoholic Beverages" as the same are defined in Section
1, Sub-section 1, Article 2B of the Code of Public and General
Laws of Maryland as the same was enacted by Chapter 2 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland, Special Ses-
sion 1933, other than "beer", as the same is defined in Section 1,
Sub-section 16 of said Article 2B of the said Code of the
Public and General Laws of Maryland as the same was en-
acted in 1933 as aforesaid and "wines" as the same are de-
fined in Section 1, Sub-sections 10, 11 and 12 of said Article
2B of the Code of Public and General Laws of Maryland as the
same was enacted in 1933 as aforesaid, "On Sale", meaning
for consumption on the premises, and the Board of License
