the persons voting thereon at a referendum election to be
held not later than six months from the date of the pas-
sage of this Act; and to provide that it shall not be lawful
to sell ''alcoholic beverages" or intoxicating drinks, other
than beer or light wine, as the same are defined in this
Act, within the corporate limits of the said Town until the
provisions of this Act shall be submitted to a referendum
election vote as provided herein and the result of said elec-
tion declared as provided in this Act.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Charter of the Town of Hyattsville in Prince
George's County be and the same is hereby amended and a new
section be and the same is hereby added to Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, said new section
to be known as Section 494A of said Article, to follow im-
mediately after Section 494 of said Article, the said amend-
ment and new section hereby added to read as follows:

494A. It shall not be lawful for any person or persons or
body corporate to sell directly or indirectly at any place within
the corporate limits of the Mayor and Common Council of
Hyattsville or to give away at his, her or their place of busi-
ness within the said corporate limits of such Municipality
any "alcoholic beverages" or any intoxicating drinks of any
kind, as the same are defined in Section 1, Sub-section 1, of
Article 2B of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland
as the same was enacted by Chapter 2 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland at a Special Session in 3933,
other than beer, as the same is defined in Section 1, Sub-
section 16 of said Article 2B of the said Code of Public General
Laws of Maryland as the same was enacted in 1933 as afore-
said, or light wine, as the same is defined in Section 1, Sub-
section 10, of said Article 2B of the said Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws of Maryland as the same was enacted in 1933 as
aforesaid, and the Board of License Commissioners for Prince
George's County shall not approve the applications of any
person or persons for licenses for the sale of "alcoholic bever-
ages" or intoxicating drinks, as herein before defined, other
than beer, as herein before defined, or light wine, as herein
before defined, within the said corporate limits of such Town
or Municipality, and the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Prince
George's County shall not issue a license for the sale of any
"alcoholic beverages" or any intoxicating drinks of any kind,
as hereinbefore defined, other than beer, as hereinbefore
defined, or light wine, as herein before defined, within
the said corporate limits of the said Town or Munic-
ipality, and any person or persons or body corporate violating
