'any of the provisions of this section, upon conviction, shall
be subject to the same penalties as are provided in Section 2
of Article 2B of the Code of Public General Laws of Mary-
land, providing penalties for the violation of the provisions
of said section.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall not
become effective unless and until it shall be submitted to
the qualified voters living within the corporate limits of the
Town of Hyattsville, as the same exists at the time of the
passage of this Act, at a referendum election and accepted
by a majority of the persons voting at said election. For
such purpose, a referendum election of the qualified voters,
as aforesaid, shall be held by the Mayor and Common Council
of Hyattsville at an election, the date for which shall be fixed
by it, not later than six months from the date of the passage
of this Act, and said election shall be conducted under the pro-
visions of existing laws for the election of Town officers and
in accordance with such ordinances as may have been adopted
or shall be adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of
Hyattsville, not inconsistent with law, for the submission to
the voters of said Municipality of the provisions of this Actr
and the manner of the submission of the question to the voters
shall be that on the ballots of such election there shall be
printed a synopsis of this Act, which synopsis shall be suffi-
cient if it shall contain the full wording of Section 494A as
above enacted, and under such synopsis the words "Against
the Sale of 'Hard Liquors'" with a blank square opposite
at the right, and the words, "For the Sale of 'Hard Liquors' "
with a blank square opposite at the right, and all qualified
voters desiring to vote for the provisions of this Act shall
place a cross-mark (X) in the square opposite the words,
''Against the Sale of 'Hard Liquors' " and all qualified voters
desiring to vote against the provisions of this Act shall place
a cross-mark (X) opposite the words, "For the Sale of 'Hard
Liquors'". If, at such election, a greater number of persons
shall vote "Against the Sale of 'Hard Liquors' ", than shall
vote "For the Sale of 'Hard Liquors'", then the provisions of
the foregoing sections of this Act shall become effective and
operative, the effective date of the provisions of this Act, in
the event the same is approved at said election, to be the date
that the said Mayor and Common Council of Hyattsville shall
declare the result of said election in accordance with the pro-
visions of law or ordinances as provided herein.

SEC. 3. And he it further enacted, That pending the sub-
mission of the provisions of this Act to the qualified voters of
the Town of Hyattsville, in accordance with the provisions of
Section 2 of this Act, and until the declaration by the Mayor
