SEC. 2. And &e it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly, the same shall take effect May 1, 1937.

CHAPTER 498.
A1SI ACT to add a new section to Article 81 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1935 Supplement), to be known as Sec-
tion 215, to follow immediately after Section 214 of said Ar-
ticle, providing for an exemption of the requirement of Sec-
tions 213 and 214 of said Article insofar as such require-
ments pertain to motor vehicles.

CHAPTER 499.
AN ACT to add one new section to Article 33 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Elections",
sub-title "Ballots and Ballot-Boxes", said new section to be
known as Section 62A to follow immediately after section
62 of said Article, to require the Boards of Election Super-
visors of Garrett and Carroll Counties to award contracts
for Election printing by competitive bidding.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted 'by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title
"Elections", sub-title "Ballots and Ballot-Boxes", said new
section to be known as Section 62A to follow immediately
after Section 62 of said Article and to read as follows:
62A. It shall be the duty of the Boards of Election Super-
visors for Garrett and Carroll Counties to advertise for bids
on the printing of all ballots, cards of instruction and other
printed material required to be provided for any election in
their respective counties under this Article, and to award the
contract for such printing to the lowest responsible bidder
therefor.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1937.
